Our Story
LOL Seriously Photo Booths exists because two people with very different gifts found a way to create something meaningful together.
I'm Jaclyn Velez -- I grew up admiring my mom's entrepreneurial spirit and watching her learn, perfect, and then excel at every business venture she started. I saw firsthand what it looked like to take an idea, work tirelessly to improve it, and create something that people genuinely valued.
My husband of 11 years, Anthony Velez, had an influence that was completely different but just as important. Before he was my husband, he was a close friend of my brother. His "the more the merrier" attitude made him the life of every party. The energy in the room ramped up when he walked in and although at first I insisted we would only be friends, his joy was contagious and it magnetized me to him until I couldn't deny what was clearly meant to be.
We were both family-oriented with fun-loving groups of friends, and when we started dating every ordinary get-together turned into an unforgettable event. Ordinary Friday night hang outs at our apartment began taking on themes like "Sons of Anarchy" or "Dress to Impress NYE". Our Superbowl parties needed their own Facebook event invites and often featured guest DJs, and our Halloween parties were EPIC.
Around 2013 at the height of my mom's career as a wedding photographer, she invested in her first photo booth and asked if she could bring it to our next party to test it out. It was such a hit that it became a necessity at every special occasion from that point on -- housewarmings, luaus, graduations, birthdays, sporting events; on Halloween we would even set it up on our front lawn for trick-or-treaters to enjoy.
We had the party side down pat and it wasn't long before my mom suggested we learn the business side as well and invest in our own photo booth.
That's where LOL Seriously Photo Booths was born.
We launched in 2018 when I was pregnant with our second child. At the time maternity leave from my corporate career was approaching, and Anthony was working 2nd shift as a warehouse supervisor. At first I thought to myself, "Start our own business? There's no way we have the capacity to take this on..."
But where I'm a realist, Anthony is a dreamer, and he had complete faith that we could and should do this. Just like his love of life, his confidence was contagious. And so we began growing our photo booth business at the same time as we were growing our family -- the two are closely entwined.
Our mission isn't just to rent you a photo booth. It's to help create the same kind of atmosphere that's been bringing our loved ones together for the last 14 years, while delivering an experience families, couples, schools, and organizations can trust from beginning to end.
